Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained
By Katharine Giovanni
Taking chances.
That seems to be the theme of the week.
Taking chances....
Taking the chance that hiring you will be the perfect solution.
Taking the chance that investing in your company will be a wise
investment.
Taking the chance that starting up a company of your own will bring
you prosperity.
Taking a chance when the world is telling you the opposite.
This reminds me of an old story my father told me when I was a child
...
Years ago my father worked for a bank in New York City and was approached
by someone who offered him some stock in a brand new young company. He
immediately went to his father and asked him if he thought the investment
was wise. My grandfather took one look at the company and told my father
that a restaurant who offers only one food choice would never fly and advised
him to not invest in a company that had no future. No one would eat there
because people wanted choices. The market wouldn’t support it. So Dad took
his father’s advice and never invested in the company.
Would you like to know the company name?
Kentucky Fried Chicken.
<SIGH>
My father kicked himself over that for years.
Taking chances.
Yes, there's a risk. There's ALWAYS a risk! I won’t argue that
point with you. Life's a risk.
Not doing it is also a risk.
So what to do?
Take a deep breath and trust what your intuition is telling you.
My father's intuition told him to invest, and he let his brain (and my
grandfather) talk him out of something his intuition was guiding him to
do.
Trust.
I've told dozens and dozens of clients that the key to business is
intuition and persistence. Trusting your intuition to guide you in the
right direction, and persistence to KEEP GOING!
DON’T GIVE UP!
If you wish to be successful then I would certainly take a hard look
at your business, your services, your market, your fee structure and your
sales strategy. However, I would also take a look at what you’re thinking.
How you are talking to yourself? If you keep saying things like "I
will be successful" or "I will get that investor to invest" then
you will be left willing and your success will remain in the future.
Turn your thoughts into the present tense. I AM successful! I have
plenty of clients!!! I have plenty of investors!
If you had $100,000 in the bank right now ... what would you be thinking?
How would you be conducting your life? Your business? Why wait?
Think that way now.
I am not suggesting that you go out and buy a fancy sports car and
a million dollar mansion on credit. I am merely pointing out that you should
THINK that you can do these things if you want to.
THINK prosperous and you will BE prosperous because if you change
the inside, then your world will change on the outside.
Ok, let me say that one again ... this time in a bold font ...
Change the inside and you will change the outside.
Take a chance!
Take a chance to live your passion!
What have you got to lose?
Money? You can always get more of that.
Time? Every morning you're given 24 brand new hours to work
with and there's more where that came from. Every sunrise is your chance
to start over and make a new choice.
People? People come and go in your life like the tide. Some
are meant to be there forever, and some are there to teach you something
(or for you to teach them) and then it's time for them to leave. Your real
friends will always stand by your side no matter what.
A place? You can always get a new place just like you can always
buy new things.
So I'll ask you again. What have you got to lose?
Take the chance.
Take the chance to do it ... or to not do it. Just take the chance.
Life is about taking chances. You can have everything you’ve ever
dreamed of! All you have to do is take the chance.
As they say ... Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
